Treatment for HIV and AIDS
The treatment for HIV and AIDS starts with the treatment of HIV upon diagnosis. Within one year, if left unchecked HIV can lead to fatality. With the treatment of antiretroviral drugs a person with HIV can have their life extended for approximately 20 years. For this treatment to be an effective long term treatment it has been discovered that it is best to use a variety of antiretroviral drugs.
HIV replicates in such a way that there is in fact many different versions of the virus in any one person. Sometimes this means a particular version developed is resilient to a certain type of drug, it is therefore beneficial to be taking more than one so that if one drug fails on a particular type, the other will succeed and greatly reduces the development of resistance to the drugs.
In under developed countries this treatment for HIV and AIDS is largely unavailable and the best they can hope for is treatment for the diseases that arise because of their low immunity. This obviously does not address the underlying problem of HIV or AIDS and the problems will re occur and increase in severity.
You will need to discuss this treatment with your doctor if you wish to use it. There are many factors to consider, such as the commitment level required. Antiretroviral treatment is a life long commitment regardless of the side effects suffered, however if you have suffered numerous serious infections it is recommended that this treatment be started immediately. These drugs will help reduce the levels of the virus and boost your CD4 levels as well but there are possible negative effects the drugs can have on individuals.
