No Cure for HIV has Been Found
AIDS and HIV is a well researched topic with various charities and organizations putting pressure on local and national governments worldwide to invest more thoroughly in the research of cure, treatment and prevention of HIV. However, to date no cure for HIV has been found and it remains only possible to prevent and treat this deadly virus. HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) was discovered by America in 1981 but is suspected to have been present for many hundreds of years. The information we have of HIV is limited even to this day and its origin is still unknown. There have been many theories and documentaries on HIV and where it has come from but no solid evidence has been presented yet and the virus remains a mystery.
Although no cure for HIV has been found yet, we do have well developed medical knowledge on how to slow down and suppress the affects of the virus. Anti-retroviral drugs when used together in a cocktail have been found to be the most effective for combating HIV symptoms and slowing down the attack of HIV on the immune system. These drugs are potentially life saving as they prolong the patient’s life for up to decades after infection and allow them to continue to live normal healthy lives. They often mean the difference between a person developing AIDS in their lifetime or not.
Medical researchers are continuing to develop better and more effective medications to combat HIV but still the most effective method so far is prevention. If you do have HIV then you can carry on as normal with medical help and Anti-retroviral treatment now for many years.
